Description

The Tour de Romandie is a stage cycling race that brings together all the cantons of western Switzerland under one roof. It offers both a fascinating sporting spectacle for the public and great images for television viewers. Its valuable values - prestigious and mythical cycling race, cultural and tourist discoveries - give it an important position in the international cycling calendar and generate high interest from the media. In 2006, this event received the label of excellence "UCI Pro Tour", which in 2011 was renamed "UCI World Tour".

Fun Facts

The Tour was created in 1947 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Swiss Cycling Federation. In the first edition of the Tour, 40 riders took part in ten teams. At that time, there were only four stages on the program and the total distance covered was 755 kilometers!
