Vevey is one of the "Pearls of the Swiss Riviera". The lakeside location with breathtaking views of the Alps, the exceptionally mild climate, the vineyards, numerous excursion destinations in the region and proud paddle steamers on the lake characterize the city on Lake Geneva. Vevey experienced its first heyday during the Belle Epoch at the end of the 19th century. Even today, majestic hotels and a flower-bedecked, palm-lined lake promenade are reminiscent of this time. But Vevey is also a modern, regional center where Nestlé, the international food and beverage group, has its headquarters. Its most famous resident was probably comedian Charlie Chaplin, who spent the last 25 years of his life here. There is a monument dedicated to him on the lake shore. The Astra Hotel Vevey, located in the city center and opposite the train station, offers modern rooms, the historic Brasserie La Coupole 1912 and the rooftop Astra Lounge and the City Panoramic Spa & Fitness.
